Ningbo: The City That Surprised Me

TJ, who was taking care of us, told me to prepare a speech because it would be our last day in Ningbo, China. She asked me, “Can you prepare a speech? Answer the question: What do you like about Ningbo, and what did you do? I said, “Sure.”

I really enjoyed my time in Ningbo—it's such a vibrant and innovative city. One of the highlights was visiting a fashion institute, where I got to explore creative design and even make a colorful fish from different patterned fabrics, which was a really fun, hands-on way to express creativity. I made a blue-themed fish with a crab.

I also had the chance to assemble a drone, which gave me a better understanding of technology and engineering. Then today, I visited one of Ningbo’s top high schools, where I built a small airplane and actually tested it outside. While assembling, a student helped me; he explained a bit of physics, like the importance of balance and the laws of dynamics, so the plane could fly properly. When testing my airplane, it flew into a tree on the first attempt, but on the second attempt it flew. It was exciting to see something I built take flight!
